How we can detect its a spam link in SEO

Spammy links - also known as low quality backlinks - are ones which are pointed to your domain from spam or poor authority sites. This can have a negative impact on your website's ranking in search engines.

That’s why it is important to identify and remove these links from your website in order to increase your website’s visibility. Identifying spammy backlinks on your website is actually a surprisingly straightforward process. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you detect and eliminate spammy backlinks from your website.

Step 1:The first step is to run your website through an SEO tool’s backlink checker. I personally use Ahrefs for this purpose as the tool offers all the information I need to root out the bad backlinks from virtually any backlink profile.

Step 2:The tool will then display the details of the entire backlink profile of your website. Something like this: Here, you have to locate websites and domains with a low Domain Rating (DR) score. A DR score is a metric used by Ahrefs which is based on the overall SEO strength of a website. Generally, websites with a DR score lower than 25 are considered to be of low quality.

Step 3:Low DR score is a good indicator of spammy websites but it isn’t foolproof. This is because websites with low DR scores may simply be new websites.

This is why, once you have identified the suspect backlinks, you have to conduct further investigation. You can do this by manually visiting the website and checking whether it looks suspicious or not. If it looks suspicious, you should remove the link. Apart from DR score, you should also look out for links on websites that are not related to your niche, have a lot of ads, have a poor user experience, or are blocked by Google. These are all signs of a low quality website and should be removed.

Once you have identified the spammy links, you should use the disavow tool provided by Google to remove them from your website. This tool allows you to tell Google which links you don’t want it to take into consideration when assessing your website. In conclusion, identifying and removing spammy backlinks from your website is an important step in improving your website’s visibility in search engines. It is a relatively straightforward process but requires some detective work to root out all the bad links. Once you have identified the bad links, you should use the disavow tool provided by Google to remove them from your website.
